Parthenopi Ralli, Ifigeneia Mellidou, Kalliopi Kadoglidou, and Ioannis Mylonas, all from ELGO DIMITRA, participated in the conference, which focused on the topic of "The Role of Plant Breeding in Innovation, Resilience, and Sustainable Development of Agriculture." The conference brought together researchers, plant breeders, and industry representatives to exchange scientific knowledge and discuss innovative approaches to sustainable agricultural development.
Ifigeneia, Kalliopi, and Parthenopi, along with Anastasia Papadopoulou and Eleni Papa—two young researchers working on the PRO-WILD project—presented their research to the plant breeding community. Their poster, "Evaluation of Beta Crop Wild Relative Germplasm for Low-Temperature Tolerance", presented experimental phenotypic and physiological screening results obtained under controlled versus low-temperature conditions. These experiments led to the identification of promising Beta crop wild relative accessions with enhanced cold tolerance.
Additionally, Ioannis, Parthenopi and their colleagues presented the poster "Morphological characterization of Aegilops accessions (Aegilops spp.) from the collection of the Greek Genebank". Their research focused on characterizing and evaluating the agronomy of Aegilops spp., as well as assessing their variability. They used multivariate statistical methods to identify germplasm with traits of potential interest for wheat breeding.
